Slices of strawberry shortcake tumble across candy-striped pink and white, layered with cream and fresh berries and finished with juicy strawberry pieces scattered between them. The soft watercolour painting and gentle pink palette give the whole design a sweet, nostalgic, bakery-window charm. The idea came from a love of pretty desserts — that first slice of strawberry cake at a birthday or summer tea party. I wanted a pattern as cheerful and indulgent as the treat itself, with the classic pink stripe adding a playful, retro sweetshop feel. This design is lovely for children's clothing, dresses, pyjamas and aprons, as well as bags, accessories, quilting, bunting and baking-themed projects. The soft pinks keep it warm and easy to style.
